Meaning, above all, is what I seek. I want to know this isn’t in vain. I want to know my life wasn’t in vain.

This trilogy wasn’t just an epic love story, it was an epic STORY. Sure, you have to suspend disbelief to really get into it, but the author’s writing makes that easy to do. And the funny thing is that while the plot was far-fetched, the emotions and the people were so fucking real. This isn’t a story about people that could be saints, it’s a story about damaged people that may find love, but they still make mistakes. Mistakes that not only change each of their lives forever, but also that change the course of history. And honestly, what’s more real than fate?

”One demon at a time, Greer.”
“No one can wrestle one demon at a time. Demons link arms, join hands. They’re a package deal.”

I absolutely loved that each book was (primarily) written from the POV of one of the three main characters. If it hadn’t been done that way, the story would’ve either been too confusing or one-sided. I kept changing my “favorite” character, so I think it’s safe to say that I loved- and became frustrated by- them equally. Greer was too trusting, but it made her love openly and without judgment. I may have rolled my eyes at Embry constantly martyring himself, but because he was inherently selfish, those actions proved how real and unconditional his love really was. And Ash being demanding, with his unrealistic expectations and tendency to be a control freak, just made it all the more meaningful when he sacrificed himself for the ones he loved so deeply. There was a time that I thought that Embry and Ash’s love ran deeper, but I eventually realized that there was a reason they’d gone all these years and still couldn’t make it work. They were too volatile, which made for good sex, but they needed Greer to be the stabilizing force. Ash and Embry were unpredictable fire, while Greer was steadfast, loyal, and forgiving. As much as I didn’t like certain events or time periods, they had to happen for their destiny to unfold.

When we first met, he thought I was his enemy and I thought he was perfect. Then I fell in love with him, and he’s been breaking my heart ever since.

This story has a lot of ups and downs, some of which were frustrating, but come on- if you go into this thinking that the President, his VP, and the daughter of a storied politician could live as triad with no complications, then I want whatever you’re smoking. Still, the tension made the sex that much hotter, their love that much more desperate. I ended up valuing their relationships equally, but my favorite parts of the whole trilogy were the flashbacks to Ash and Embry in the military. Dear God. Their past could’ve been the hottest story on its own. And while I ended up loving them all, I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Embry, mistakes and all. I related to him, to his background and his self-loathing because of it. I’m not the biggest fan of politicians or politics, but that didn’t matter in this story. The politics in the story were made-up enough to not constantly draw parallels to real-life, but still well-researched and logical. If you ever thought Sierra Simone just wrote hot sex, this trilogy should convince you otherwise... while still reminding you of how fucking hot her stories are, of course.

I don’t want boring, common ways of being bad. I want ways that rattle me to my bones, that send me to my knees in repentance, I want to be the kind of bad that leaves me wrung out with bite marks blooming purple on my body.

Was the ending realistic? Absolutely not. Did I care? Not in the slightest. It was the perfect ending for these characters; it stayed true to who they were, which were three people that loved deeply and unconditionally, through darkness and light. It was destiny, which, might I add, played a huge part in the plot. There was a whimsical hint to the story, a vague sort of magic that fit perfectly with their once-in-a-lifetime love for each other. I don’t think I’ll be forgetting this one anytime soon.

What mattered was that he was my king and I was his prince, and I would always, always be by his side.

Wow this series absolutely WRECKED me. I honestly kinda loved that each person got their own book and you got to really see every different part fo their story from each POV. It's not something you always get in dual pov books and I really enjoyed that. It didn't feel repetitive and it just adds me fall for them so much harder. What a beautiful series... That ending kinda threw me. I felt jerked back and forth and sobbed the last 20% but the epilogue was so cute and I'm just happy I got my happily ever after. The only reason I'm docking a half ⭐ is for how annoyed I got at Sierra Simones writing of triple words together (finally, finally, finally or more, more, more) like a million times through Ash's book.

I was hooked straight away, it started strong and proceeded on its mission. I loved seeing everything from the previous books in the series concluding.

My favourite out of the series was book one. I liked the King the least out of them, but it had to be read to finish the series and was still a gripping read.

Sierra Simone is a strong writer and knows how to take the reader on an intense journey.
