A book that shifts paradigms. Can honestly say it reshaped my understanding of humanity and of society. Very well argued and easily understood for non experts. A little slow and overly dense at some points, otherwise it would be five stars. The rare book that fundamentally shifts how you view the world, and the political futures that are possible.

A paradigm shifting book. I wish everyone would read it. It’s long, but imo needs the full length to due justice to the topic. I’ll be reading more by the author(s).

This was a long book...could have been much shorter getting to the point with less poetic language.
The authors want us to rethink what civilization is and how society has developed and gotten stuck.

A fascinating deep dive into early human history, looking at new discoveries from recent decades to provide a totally new perspective on the diversity and ingenuity of human societies from the pre-neolithic to the early European colonial era.

This is amazing and has my mind reeling. I’m so glad that I read this as it will help me to think of things in such a different way. From one anthro student thank you!
