I love his later works, but this was not there yet. It is long winded and the plot gets convoluted. There are some funny moments, and i don't think i could write something as good as my first book, but id say skip it unless you are a diehard fan.

Ok, now I've read 2 of Scalzi's books - and I'm now officially a fan. :D I totally loved this story & I am really looking forward to reading more of his writing. Of course, I also love that this book was read by Wil Wheaton, so it was doubly geektastic. LOL

I am speechless. I actually have no criticisms of this book. Not sure that has ever happened before. Now, I'm not saying this is the most amazing book that has ever been written, just that it was exactly what it was intended to be: humorous, entertaining, engrossing, and thought-provoking. I have a new respect for John Scalzi after he hit the mark so precisely with this one.

What a fantastic read, or well listen for me. I enjoyed the characters, their development and exploits. This was my first John Scalzi book (scandalous) but I immediately picked Red Shirts, also read by Will Wheaton.
