Gabi Burton has a great writing style and the idea was there but I don’t think she’d fully fleshed it out.
None of the characters were particularly compelling or interesting and they consistently made stupid decisions. The way relationships developed felt very unrealistic / unnatural.
I loved the world-building and was really hoping for more out of this book 🫤

it's not a bad book just a bit messy. a lot happens in a span of a chapter that is too short for all that is happening so it seems unfinshed.
also where is the character development?! hayes is still just a boy that knows nothing. like seriously how are you that uninterested in your own kingdom.
i think this was pitched at one point as an enemies to lovers which is simply not true. main characters are enemies for 5 minutes towards the end at most.
on a positive note i did like the plot twist because i wasn't expecting them. the premise of the book had big potential and it just did not deliver. as for the sequel i plan to read it and fingers crossed there is some writting and character development.

Sing me to Sleep doesn’t seem a fitting title at all. Not that it matters I guess but it’s always one this book discussion questions. Anyway, fantasy books have so much impending danger and consequences it kind stresses me out but I enjoyed the world building, I loved reading about a morally grey FMC, and Hayes was a delight. I read and read along with the audio which was a really nice experience. Getting to her all the names and places pronounced, the accent. I would also highly recommend the audiobook the narrator has a great voice. She didn’t do the best job at modulating her tone so you could tell what was dialogue and what was internal monologue but otherwise it was good. This has a mystery and suspense feel to it because Saoirse is trying to figure out who’s blackmailing her and who’s behind the larger plot and if it’s connected. While also battling her nature and her growing affections for the charming Prince. It’s slow burn and intriguing, well written and paced well. I’m definitely looking forward to book to and see how Hayes handles his new responsibilities and how Saoirse navigates her feelings and being a fugitive.
