I did enjoy this book though not as much as the others.

I’m a bit crazed for historical romance so pretty much always enjoy them but I will say this book got better in the the latter off. There are two narrators that have done Karen Tufts audiobooks and the other I enjoy more than the one who did this book.

I will say the other thing that did detract a bit from this book was I was thinking of another in the series (Jennings family) that I already read. This other book “the duke meets his match” was a 5 star and vastly preferred it to this. I think because the heroine was so smart and less mainstream seeming and it has enemies to lovers vibes which I love

This was a fun book, different take on a regency romance. It was predictable but I loved it! And this is a new author for me, I'll need to look into her other books.

Loved this story about a young woman who has finally reached the point when she can escape from all the unwanted attention she receives from being a beautiful actress. On the night of her final performance, she disguises herself and flees to an inn where she is supposed to meet up with her friends. Instead, she runs into a group of young men who start to recognize her. Before they can approach her, she flings herself into the arms of Lucas Jennings who has recently returned from war. She addresses him as husband and begs him to go along with the charade. Lucas is weary of returning to his ancestral home and decides as a gentleman he will help this young woman find her friends and travel to a home she has inherited. He is surprised to learn that underneath her disguise, she's a stunningly beautiful woman. When the home she had pinned her hopes and dreams on turns out to be in total disrepair, Lucas takes her to his home only to introduce her as his fiancee. The two must decide whether to keep up the charade or go their separate ways.

I really enjoyed the characters and plot of this book. It was a quick read with some fun twists. Highly recommend it to those who enjoy an entertaining historical, clean romance.

A clean and fun regency romance. Entertaining characters and interesting storyline. I don’t know what it is was exactly but it was just missing a little something for me.

This was a fun story! It was full of quirky characters and I loved how the hero willingly stepped in to help when he was unwittingly brought in to the situation. Great family - and friendship - bonds and some fun acting skills as well!
