It was a fine, short. I listened to the Audible version and, after it started, I remembered that I don't care for this narrator. But I did enjoy the story.

Not sure what I expected, although I have enjoyed the two other books I read by her. Maybe it was just too short and underdeveloped?
Oh well, only took me an hour and change.....

Quick short story of D.D. Warren as she awaits the birth of her child. I liked how D.D. tried to balance her love of the job with her love of Alex and the unborn baby. She grappled with these feelings, while still trying to work at her job as the best homicide detective in Boston.
This story has D.D. working as a film consultant and stumbling into a murder case.
The story is a thriller and quite enjoyable.

The 7th Month (Detective D.D. Warren #5.5) a short story
Sergeant Detective D. D. Warren is seven months pregnant, been assigned to desk duty, and she's not enjoying it. Plus Alex, the baby father, has asked her to move into his place. Too much to think about so D.D. needs a distraction and it comes in the chance to be a cop technical consultant for a movie about a serial killer. Plus this moonlighting job pays really, really well. And then, just like that, there is a real murder connected to this consulting job and now the moonlighting job becomes part of D.D.'s day job. Things get very busy and very serious, very quickly! There is a good amount of humor packed into this short story.

I am not a fan of short stories and am curious why all the big authors are starting to do them? This one was good but I always feel like short stories just end. There is no depth.

Felt a bit too rushed, especially at the end. Not a huge fan of short stories

At seven months pregnant D.D. Warren has been taken out of the field to man the office. When a movie producer asks for her help on consulting on a movie she says yes just to get out of the station. But the moment she hits the set she finds out the former police consultant has been found murdered. Now she has to go to the set and figure out why he's dead and who did it.
This short fiction is rather good with suspense and mystery. D.D. is her ornery observant self. Pregnancy does not slow her down. On the romance front D.D. has to decide whether she will move in with Alex.
