In honour of the imminent release of season 3 of Bridgerton (let the internal screaming commence), I decided to finally tackle the eight Bridgerton books currently sitting in my tbr list. And so, Dear Reader, let’s begin with Book 1 of the series: The Duke & I

I would have given it a 5 if it didn’t have such an uncomfortable and unnecessary scene.

This novel was both exciting and infuriating, although it captured the naivety of women in that time period, it felt at some points unnecessary. I thoroughly enjoyed the occasional period accurate language and dialogue, and the somewhat ally’s to lovers to enemies to lovers arc. In the end it was a beautiful romance ruined by a disgusting sexual assault.
