NIce, relaxing read.

Since I've read P.S. I Love You and Where Rainbow Ends, I find that this book is not as good as them.
I just don't get Lucy getting an invitation from "Life". I had like....many questions spinning in my mind once I started the book. Is "Life" just life or is "Life" a psychiatric/therapy clinic? Mr Pan the cat...a hermaphrodite? So curious.....

But as the story goes on, its actually about Lucy lying about herself (*like not being able to speak Spanish or leaving Blake....etc...*) and to everybody just because she feel embarrassed and trying to delude herself into believing the lies she told so that she live a happier life. Then she got an invitation from "Life".....and so the "therapy" begins....

Well....I do enjoy reading a whole paragraph of stuff Lucy says and find out its a lie in the next paragraph. It's kinda fun trying to figure out which stuff Lucy said was true.

I like Cecilia Ahern but this wasn't one of her best.

HAD A GREAT TIME WITH THE TIME OF MY LIFE
Don’t judge a book by its cover. It might seem a romcom to you. It’s not.
A girl in her late twenties is messed up in her career life, love life, family life.
Sounds pretty much like us, right?
Then she meets Mr. Life who changes her perspective of the entire life.
Sounds like a movie, right?
Lucy Silchester got dumped by her boyfriend, lost her job, her amazing apartment and has successfully become a disappointment to her father. In order to cope up, she consoled herself with a bunch of lies. And her bunch of lies built up a chaotic, depressing and more pathetic life.
Then suddenly she received a letter from Mr. Life. Her Life. To meet. And as she meets her Life, truths began to unfold, untying the lies she has tangled herself into.
Story build up was good. The pace was perfect. Not too fast, not too slow. A realistic story. The only ‘Hollywood thing’ that came in the story was Mr. Life. Though I liked his character. He was not a savior to be honest. Lucy’s Life just pointed out her flaws, helped her see where she is and helped her figure out herself.
If you think they will have a predictable ending which I thought too, you’re wrong. For which I liked the book. For which I’ll suggest you this book too.
The only thing I didn’t like was how Lucy’s father character was not that developed and the issues with her father kind of remained incomplete. The writer tried to portray a positive part of Lucy’s father but she couldn’t exactly bring it to focus.
This book is funny, very relate-able, inspiring too.
I’ve read P.S I love you by Cecilia Ahern too. She can exactly put into words what you’re going through when you’re messed up in your life. For which you can relate to her writings very well. You grow comfortable reading the characters. It’s like, ‘hey, I know how that feels!’
Most of all, she also points out how everything becomes okay. She just doesn’t jump to the state where you’re depressed a time and next year, boom! You’re okay. She writes the journey of how you become okay. That’s the thing I liked about her books, both this one and P.S I love you.
Thank you Cecilia Ahern, for putting into words the journey of becoming okay from struggles.

I usually love Ahern's books. This one is good, but a bit strange. Anyone who reads Ahern novels knows to expect the unusual. I am very good at accepting strange phenomena. But, in this case, it's just a bit off for me. Main character, Lucy is a bit of a mess. She has an appointment to meet "Life" personified. He is a bit of a shambles to reflect Lucy's character. He tries to get her back on track. What I didn't care for was the normal reaction to meeting Lucy's life. I like quirky stories, but this was a little weird. Still kept me reading, but didn't love it as I did other Ahern stories.

Why you would love this:
If you're familiar with Cecelia Ahern's books, then I'm not surprised that you've read The Time of My Life. I've always been a fan of Cecelia Ahern's books, my all-time favourite has to be Where Rainbows End, it was my first by Cecelia Ahern and I loved it!

The Time of My Life follows the story of Lucy Sichester who is leading a miserable life, after getting dumped by her boyfriend, her life seems to be dull, spiralling towards an abyss. She lives in a rut, her friends think that she's not herself and her family are really unnerving. Someone call an intervention! One day, she meets her Life, a middle-aged, shabby man, who resembles her life. In order to find happiness and enjoy living, it's up to Lucy and her Life to determine that.

Right from the start, I adored the heroine, Lucy. She's funny, sharp and could definitely pass as a compulsive liar, but you'd love her as she's definitely got sass in her! I found the characters were very well written, something you expect from a Cecelia Ahern novel, to be honest. I adored Life, at first I was so cross with him for meddling with Lucy's life - he was rude, impatient and I developed an instant dislike towards him, but gradually I warmed up to him.

The one thing I had to point out is that, the beginning of the book took off very well, readers are introduced to Lucy and her horrible mess of a life, her friends and Life. But after the 100-or-so pages, it went on a bit of a sticky patch. But if you get past that, you're in for a treat!

Lucy and Life's mission to get her life back on track will have you in bits, I'm telling you! You see, Lucy is a bit of a liar, she lies to mostly everyone to make her life more bearable and to be honest, she is really in a rut. For every lie she tells, Life reveals a secret of hers!

The Time of My Life is hilarious, incredibly thought-provoking book which is enchant you, but tinged with poignancy, which leaves you wondering about your own life. Another sublime Cecelia Ahern book, which you can't miss out.

I have been struggling with writting reviews for the past month or so. It's been TWO months since I read this one and I'm only writing a review now. Needless to say that I've forgotten a lot about a book in the time that past. But I'll try to do my best.
Like I said in previous reviews of Cecilia Ahern's books I love when she includes a magical/unrealistic element to her stories. This time she came up with idea of a Life being a real person and it was unique and very entertaining. I really liked that aspect of the story. Another thing that I really liked is the romance. It wasn't too much, and not too little. It included exactly right amount.

Took me forever it seemed to get into this book but once I did, i found it very difficult to not keep reading. This is a twist on the story "nanny mcphee".......

The Time of my Life Review on K-Books

First of all I want to say a huge thank you to Harper Collins UK for sending me a review copy of this book. I was so over-excited when I received this for review, Cecelia Ahern is my all time favourite author and her first debut book PS, I Love You was the first novel I ever read and loved and it was the book that made me fall in love with reading. Since then I have read every book she has ever written and loved all of them. This one is one of my top-favourites of them all, right along with PS, I Love You. I absolutely adore this book and I will read it again and again.

Lucy has become out of touch with her life, she hates her job, she hates meeting up with her family and friends and she would much rather stay home in her box-room apartment alone with her cat. Ever since the love of her life left her to go travelling and make his own show it's like Lucy's life is on hold. Then she actually meets her life. He is there to help her make the right decisions, stop lying to her friends and family and find happiness in the truth, after all the truth will set you free.

I absolutely loved this book. I found it a little strange at first with the whole meeting someone who is your life. How can your life be a person? But then each of Cecelia's novels have a touch of magic in them but just a little so it is still a realistic book.
If anything this book is inspiration to anyone who has made a wrong decision and doesn't know how to put it right, for anyone who has been left by someone they love and don't know how to go on and for people who are at a standstill in their life and don't know how to get out of their rut. Cecelia shows that you CAN still go on, nothing is impossible and you just have to tell the truth to those around you who love you and they can help.

There really isn't a bad word I can say about this book. It's definitely an inspirational story and shows no matter what is wrong in your life and no matter what struggles you face you can get through it. I loved the character, Cecelia has a great gift of writing the most amazing characters and Lucy is one of those. She's the character you can empathise with, you can see what she is going through you can feel everything she feels whether it is love, fear, sadness or happiness.

I am so glad I got this for review and it has made me realise again how much I love Cecelia's books, her writing is exceptional and just draws you in no matter how strange the story may seem. She makes you fall in love with her characters and the storyline. All of her book are ones I will read again and again. Another amazing book by an exceptional author and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
