I have now read three of the Neapolitan books within a month so clearly these are gripping me. The writing is so beautiful and descriptive. This book moves forwards to the 70s and the years of Lead with uprisings and political unrest. There is lots about class and whether the middle classes can truly understand those with lived experiences of working class life. At the core though is Elena who can never truly be confident in her abilities, forever tied to her relationship to Lila.
