His discussion of the corrupting nature of power and how society should be structured so as to minimize that corrupting influence is really interesting. I don't fully agree with some of his conclusions, but h 's spot on about a few things. Even where he's wrong, it's very interesting to consider how and why he got that conclusion.

The writing was poor, although not as bad as some of Modesitt's other early books. It was also overly preachy, even for Modesitt, and the conclusion was apparent from the beginning. 2.5 stars.

It draws you in.. builds suspense and makes strong, interesting claims about power and government. But is a bit preachy and somewhat repetitive. By the end, if I had read "stormy darkangel" one more time I would have snorted out loud.
