Re-read
This was my least favorite in the series so far. I felt like plot-wise not a lot happened, but still very enjoyable.

still love the illustration style but find the story harder and harder to stay connected to.

No matter how often I read these novels and look at this art, one thing always springs to mind: I've never read anything like this. The world, the characters, the startling realism to it all (yes, even with the talking cats and fox-eared girls)... MONSTRESS just grabs you and pulls you into its lore-rich world, spell-binds you with its art, and captivates you with its epic story.

I just finished Volume 3 and already I'm begging for Volume 4, given the shock Maika received and that painful, final page. Many beloved characters returned, including walking fantasy Corvin, and all of them continued on their dangerous adventure while crossing paths with pirates, refugees, gods, and monsters. The action was plentiful and extremely gory at some points, but it was still absolutely beautiful to look at. The story was exciting as characters found themselves conflicted with their duties, and their changing beliefs. I couldn't stop reading for the life of me.

MONSTRESS has earned countless awards and I hope it continues to keep winning them. It's one of the most epic fictions I've ever read and I cannot recommend it enough to everyone willing to open their mind to a world unlike anything you've ever seen before, and never knew you wanted.

Despite the fact that I wouldn't mind killing off the main character the story itself is interesting and the artwork is great.
