As usual, a brutal and enthralling story paired with absolutely gorgeous art. There was one page that seemed like it got missed with formatting, but it was one of the side stories with Professor Tam. Otherwise, this volume keeps the same pace and quality I've come to expect from Monstress.

3.5 the art continues to be amazing. The story is interesting and fast paced but still confusing at times.

This series continues to be stunning. The art is beautiful, the world is expansive, the characters are endearing. Each volume manages to ramp up the stakes and I keep wondering how they're going to top the previous volume but they do. I will say, this is probably the goriest volume so far, with a woman's face being ripped off at one point, so that was a little gross. That being said, I'm diving right into volume four.

Another great adventure with Maika and friends. In this volume we learn more about the Shaman Empress, the old gods and about where Ren's loyalties lie. A great addition to a world of talking cats, crazy witches, and shifting betrayals. My only criticism is the need for labels or a character guide that will help us keep track of the many storylines happening all at once.

Definitely will be continuing with the series.

The gorgeous anxiety I have with every volume of this comic was just as intense in volume 3. Maika's journey and the enormity of what's coming keep me riveted, and I always forget just how brutal Marjorie Liu can be with her world creation.
