SQUEE!!! Stories from two of my absolute favorite authors Nalini Singh and Ilona Andrews in the same book. I love it!

Secrets at Midnight by Nalini Singh – Oh what fun! If you’ve read Branded by Fire (Psy-Changeling #6) you know that Mercy has three brothers who delight in teasing her. Now it is footloose and fancy free cat about town Bastien’s turn to fall and Ms. Singh takes this opportunity to get a little payback for all that he put Mercy through. A fun sweet tale that will set Bastien on his tail.

Magic Steals (Kate Daniels #7.5) by Ilona Andrews – Adventure with my second favorite couple Jim & Dali from the world of Kate Daniels. In Magic Dreams (a story that appeared in the Hexed anthology) we discovered Jim’s attraction to Dali the half-blind vegetarian were-tiger with the huge brain and even bigger heart with a penchant for crashing cars. It had been hinted at in several Kate books but now we get to see what their relationship is really like and watch the one cat who can get one over on Big Bad Jim.

Lucky Charms by Lisa Shearin - Lisa Shearin is a “new to me” author but I absolutely loved this story so much so that after finishing this story I immediately put down this book and bought The Grendel Affair (SPI Files #1). Lucky Charms introduces you to Makenna Frazier and friends who work at Supernatural Protection and Investigations. Hers is a world filled with magic and supernatural creatures. She has an extremely valuable gift now she just has to stay alive to use it.

The Beast of Blackmoor by Milla Vane – I haven’t gotten to this story yet as I was distracted by Lisa Shearin’s Lucky Charms but I do plan to read this soon.

- Review of The Beast of Blackmoor by Milla Vane -

If you read this novella when it first released or even a year ago, then the world that Milla Vane has created was completely new to you. However, Milla Vana aka Meljean Brook has released her first full-length novel under this penname titled A Heart of Blood and Ashes this year. I fell in love with the world and especially enjoyed the grittiness of the story. So when I discovered that she had written a novella in this world, I just had to read it. I am not a big fan of novellas, but I just needed something to hold me over until the next book releases in July this year.

The Beast of Blackmoor was a HOT action-packed fantasy romance. I loved that the heroine Mala was strong, fierce, determined, and didn't hold back. The hero Kavik is broken and doesn't think he deserves to be happy. He was broody and hard, and a great match for Mala. She is on a quest and has been sent to tame the Beast of Blackmoor. However, what does the goddess mean by taming, and who is the Beast? The author did a great job in telling Kavik and Mala's story. I enjoyed the characters a lot and would love for them to make appearances in the Gathering of Dragons series. I would've loved an epilogue just to see what they were up to in the future. Nonetheless, this was a quick and sexy read that I fully enjoyed.

Solid collection. Mostly read for the Psy-Changeling and Kate Daniels universe stories. The Psy-Changeling one was my favorite even though I do love Dali. With half stars I'd give 3.5.

Listened for Fun (Audible)
Overall Rating: 4.25
Story Rating: 4.00
Character Rating: 4.50

Audio Rating: 3.50 (not part of the overall rating)

Note: Only listened to Magic Steals by Ilona Andrews

Overall Thoughts: OH Jim! Way to ease into it :) <---that ending quite frankly had me fist pumping and going "WAIT! I need the rest of that scene". Overall I adore Dali and Jim and hope we get more stories from them in the future.

Audio Thoughts
Narrated by Angela Dawe

I love Angela Dawe! I just want to say that upfront but it is hard for me to wrap my head around different narrators picking up characters that I already have in my head with another narrator. She did well but it wasn't the same. I don't blame Angela--just my head for liking it one way!

This was an accidental find while looking for a similar title And what a find! An Ilona Andrews about Dali and Jim? Yes, please. And three authors who I expect I will be reading more of in the future. Not a bad one in the bunch - always a sweet surprise when reading a bunch of short stories.
