The Five People You Meet in Heaven stunned me when I first read it well over a decade ago. It is one of my favorite books of all time - one of the few books that I have loved enough to re-read multiple times.

It’s a little scary to read a sequel to a book that you loved so much. There is a concern that you won’t like the way the story progresses or it won’t be as engaging as the original. You wonder if perhaps you have built up the first story so much in your mind that no sequel could ever compare.

Thankfully, those worries were completely unfounded today when I devoured The Next Person You Meet in Heaven in one sitting.

It is every bit as wonderful and meaningful as The Five People You Meet in Heaven. For me, because I can personally relate very closely to a specific portion of Annie’s story, it may even have been more so. Much like the story of Eddie’s life, Annie’s story is lovely and tragic and hopeful. I smiled through tears several times.

Much like The Five, I will absolutely be reading The Next over and over again.

Screw this book. I was left a blubbering mess in front of a whole room full of Army girls and the only thing I could say when my friend asked what was wrong was пїЅпїЅпїЅI read a book...пїЅпїЅпїЅ

It was disgustingly saccharine, and the ending was dumb.

That part with the dog, though, destroyed my soul. I may cry again looking at my old dog with her white nose laying

This sequel was just as good as the first book. It brought me to tears at some parts, which is not an easy thing to do.

I loved this sequel.

This was a quick read. This book was very heartfelt and emotional. For me it is a life lesson in how not to beat yourself up about the mistakes you may have made in the past. It also teaches the importance of forgiveness
