This was a nice ending that also happened to gently touch most of my favorite tropes. (I need more collar play actually). I really liked this fun little series as a whole and I'm gonna miss it.

Whisper truly do be suffering tho

This whole series is such a perfect popcorn read and brought me so much enjoyment as I inhaled each new instalment, I'll really miss it now that it's finished.

This was a disappointment.

I’ve enjoyed this series and so of course I was really looking forward to this book. For me, though, it just didn’t hit at all.

A big part of that is that I just never connected with the characters. I didn’t find Kazia very likable ever and Lucien just fell flat. I also am generally speaking not a fan of age gaps, especially when one of the parties is a literal teenager (I believe Kazia is 18). That’s pretty off-putting for me.

It also just didn’t feel like this book contributed anything new to the series. I guess it wrapped up the conflict between the two countries? But honestly in a very un-dramatic and bureaucratic way just at the end of the book with very little fanfare. It’s a bummer that the last book of an otherwise interesting series fell so flat.

I think that this was my favorite book of the series. I absolutely loved Kazia and how dynamic of a character he was. He was so vulnerable and sweet and kind... wrapped up in a poisonous prickly exterior to protect himself. When Lucian comes in and starts feeling protective of Kazia.... I was absolutely feral for it.

Overall, this book was really interesting and fast-paced with intrigue, romance, and a dash of spice. The tension between these two as they fought to trust each other was absolutely perfect and really drove the story. I think that the story did lose me a little at times because I was impatient to get to the better bits, but overall, this was a good read and a great end to the series!

Audio reread - I love when there's a solid redemption arc for the universally hated character!

Probably a 4.5 star, but I'm still riding on the post happiness of seeing a satisfying end to the series.

Really enjoyed Kazia's arc throughout the series, and glad we got into his head and also into Lucien's. Plus, rats! And another adorable dragon. And Whisper, my favorite.

Excited to listen to 4-6 audios when they get released!
