Very unsettling novel set in a near apocalyptic world. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed piecing the story together through the flashbacks. However, I feel like the ending left me with too many unanswered questions.

It's not the worst book I ever read, but like I feel like nothing happened. It was so slow and the majority of it was just driving around in the car. And it felt like the women were the actual main characters, yet the experience was centered around a man.

There were aspects of this book that I really hated. Those made it a one-star book. But there were other parts of the story that were completely fascinating, particularly the back story, that made it a four-star book so I rated it a three.

It’s a book about a father and daughter trying to survive a most unusual plague that takes your mind, then your body. There is some really touching sentimentality folded into the story that goes over the top and all the way down the road at times. Various shitty things happen. People wear Halloween masks. Pretty good story.

Nice writing, it just felt like more of the same from this genre. I received this book for free, had I paid for it I might feel differently. At 35% of the way through I didn't feel the need to finish.
