Reminds me of that time I played Fallout 1 and didn't realise you could change the speed, so everything took ages. Very tense but also sort of agonisingly slow. Luckily, he can write a sentence and that helped a lot.
A fantastically gripping novel. I loved the simplicity of the writing and the dialogue between the man and the child.

I thought this book was a solid read to hold me over for the week but it’s terribly unmemorable. I read reviews saying that it was kinda boring or uninteresting until the end where it was like a gut punch, but I feel that’s an unfair assessment, the quality level stayed the same throughout the whole book and overall it was okay to good but nothing I’d reread! It’s kinda like when you were a kid and it was library time and you were forced to pick a book even if you didn’t want one, so you kinda read whatever you choose on airplane mode, that’s what this book reminded me of, being on airplane mode. Not a bad book by any means but nothing great either, in all honesty.
deeply emotional and bleak. it’s very moving. even though i can’t relate to the father-son dynamic, i sensed the great love and trust between the man and his son. still thinking about this.
