The road is a deeply complicated examination of what life is after the apocalypse. The road stretches on forever and so do the characters. The writing of McCarthy is deeply reflective while maintaining a plainness and straight forward nature that shakes the soul. This book is deeply reflective while sad and dark but offer the occasional glimmer to hope to encourage us to continue marching down the The Road.

I really liked this! It was so vivid to me, it felt like I was there with them. And this feeling of never being able to rest was so well done, I was scared the whole time.
Moderate: Death
Well… what am I supposed to do now? Cry?
Relentless in its hopelessness it ends the only way it could have realistically ended.
It starts out and mostly retains its boy’s adventure sheen. A much bleaker Treasure Island.
How did the world catch fire? How did so many good people immolate? Why did all the birds and animals die?
How will our two main characters survive in a world gone mad…. Cannibals herding human chattel across the dead land? How is such a thing possible?
One of the 50 greatest novels I’ve ever read.

Incredibly dark and depressing. Shouldn’t have read in 24 hours when horribly ill. Made me scared. Near cried
