There are many interesting themes to unpack in this novel and all of them can be backed by the language and style used. Bleak, beautiful, and brilliant.
Had to read this for class—it was actually really good but it did make the environment around me kind of dark the day I read it all (bc I procrastinated and had to read it the sunday before it was due

I get that the writing is award-winning, but it is too poetic for me. It doesn't ring true. The word order and lack of commas makes it difficult to understand sentences here and there, too.
The style is addictive, though. I read half of the book my first night. Addictive, but depressing. And slow. So slow that it actually doesn't go anywhere. They literally just walk down a road for the whole book, getting no where. Heading no where? Maybe that's why I read so much at once? Because I was trying to get to something happening?
