Totally in the vein of the work of [a:Lynda Barry|11646|Lynda Barry|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1197581544p2/11646.jpg] or [a:Ariel Schrag|222245|Ariel Schrag|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1190919951p2/222245.jpg], or Girl Stories by [a:Lauren R. Weinstein|338482|Lauren R. Weinstein|http://www.goodreads.com/images/nophoto/nophoto-F-50x66.jpg]. There's some kind of overlay that the creators found the source material in a bathroom, but I didn't really follow that.

Honestly, I didn't find it particularly likeable or original. Probably because I've read so many other things on a similar tack. The "panels" in this case are virtually always on full (though small) pages, so you have to flip every two panels. Gets kind of exhausting. Kind of sad, really - the only friends this girl seems to have, she has to pay to hang out with her. Shows a little of the mania of the teenage.

The absolutely overboard design of this book makes me so happy. It is now officially the pinkest and most glittery thing I own. Be sure to peek under the band on the back.

This book is truly funny. I enjoyed very much the:
depiction of curled side bangs
summary of booger removal techniques
treatment of having crushes on people you start to realize are repellent

is it really a thing where frenemies in the 1980s would ask you for money to allow you to keep hanging out with them?

This evoked the same feelings as watching the movie Welcome to the Dollhouse- discomfort and seeing an unfortunate amount of myself in a character who is depicted as quite pathetic. Also, not an art style I like. Well-done in the "generating a feeling" department, though.

The drawings in this book reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite's drawings. I liked how the illustrator was able to convey a range of emotions with this crude style, with hilarious results. I also liked how the text of the book was based on a found diary - awesome! I wasn't sure how to feel about Tammy overall, though. People were so horrible to her, but she didn't have any redeeming qualities to inspire a sense of sympathy in the reader. Maybe Tammy is supposed to represent the parts of everybody that we feel are gross and unlovable. When I think of it that way, the book seems to make more sense.

I heard this series was very funny, and maybe it gets better later but as of now, it's sad and gross. The only part I was like ayy, was Kim's monologue about abortion, which was perfect. That's the only thing I liked.
