This was cute! I was rec’d it by some chronic illness girlies in sapphlit and I really related to that side of things, having CFS myself. Equating lycanthropy to a chronic illness is honestly so smart and I don’t know why I’d never thought of it that way. Because it totally is! Having it be affected/worsened by
Priya and Brigid’s friendship was very sweet, and as much as my gay ass kept waiting for it to turn romantic, it was actually nice to read a book with just two girls who deeply platonically love each other as friends. Spencer started as a really funny one-off appearance character, and then became such a doll as a main character. The dynamic with the three of them was just so fun. Like. I want in on that friend group. The care they have for Brigid is just so sweet. Priya’s parents and siblings were very well fleshed out, as were the online friends.
I did feel that a lot of the discord server sections were a bit too long, and a lot of it was rather cringey, but I mean, we all talk cringey over text right? It was just rather unbearable at points, especially because I audiobooked large chunks of this. The audiobook narrator did not do a great job delivering internet/text speak lol.
This was a funny way to top off spooky season and transition into November. Highly rec to my fellow chronically ill baddies.

There were a few points where I disagreed with the author about how people use Discord and Tumblr.

This was a quick read. It was not hard to read. But it was enjoyable, and I liked it. It was actually really nice to hear Priya talk about her church as like. A positive community of people who care about her. That's what it should be like. Big fan of the lack of religious trauma. (Can't relate 100% but it's nice to hear about y'all.)
I don't have a chronic illness, but I have a lot of friends who do. I couldn't tell you how accurate it is (i mean. Not the werewolf thing, of course.) but it felt respectful and kind.
Five stars for internet girl friends. They are my life.

I really enjoyed it and I felt like I learned a lot about Chronic Illnesses that I didn’t know before.
