Thank you @prhaudio and Paige Toon for a #gifted copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review!
I wanted so badly to like this book, but unfortunately, it just didn’t connect with me.
I enjoy a good love triangle, but only when both love interests are worthy and likable. I couldn’t stand Finn - he was selfish more often than not. Tom was such a great person/love interest so I couldn’t get behind Liv having such a problem choosing and indulging Finn when Tom was around.
The book started picking up in the middle and I was enjoying it, but I wound up not being able to get past the ending.
I’ll keep this review short because I think this may have just been not the right book for me. I know many others who loved it, so read the synopsis on slide 2 and decide for yourself if it’s for you!

I don't know why I'm so mad, but I'm really, really mad at this book. I feel like this is a book that gives romance a bad name. This is tragedy porn.
Of course, there were points were I was hooked earlier on in the book but it just got so ridiculous.
-her parents die
- the boy she likes and went to school with comes back every Summer from LA & then she feels like shit when he's gone but always makes herself available to him when he comes back
- she meets someone else in present day, thank god
- he turns out to have a heart condition and dies a few years into marriage and THEN she gets back with the original guy
- despite the fact earlier in the book he tried to manipulate her and gave her an unfair ultimatum.
- this book had every typical trope you can think of.
The most genuine character was Michael.

-not for me
-the whole 9 pages was just describing nature which is fine but it was very repetitive
-the writing style doesn’t flow naturally

First of all I could hardly put this down, but I didn’t want to finish because I loved this book.
A good but heart wrenching beach read. The story takes course over seven summers. Liv and Finn had an instant connection. There were many happy moments and times where I had to put the book down because my heart was ripped apart.
Written beautifully and will definitely will check out Paige’s other books.
Thanks NetGalley and Penguin for this ARC!

The book made me so mad becaus Liv is insufferable and sort of an idiot. Honestly both main characters have numerous flaws with their understanding of relationships it was maddening.
Buuuuut I also couldn't stop rage reading. I physicall slammed the book countless times. I don't like how anything happened in this book. Oh and the timeframe and lines don't make sense for the overall story of the book.

“You wear your heart on your sleeve — it’s one of the things I love most about you.” - Finn to Liv
This book was so heartbreaking. I went into this book blind and as we got to the second summer, I was starting to understand the patterns and that I might not get the ending I hoped for ( I did get the ending I wanted, but at what cost—RIP Tom )
Tropes:
🐚 Second chance romance
🐚 Grief and healing
🐚 Disability rep
🐚 Love triangle
🐚 Dual timelines
🐚 Found family
Pros:
- All the side characters in this story really make the story complete
- I love Finn and Liv together and how no matter how much time passed, they always found themselves going back to each other
Cons:
Tom dying. I know it was part of the story, but I really liked Tom’s character just as much as I liked Finn’s character.

”What else would you play if I asked you to?” I ask cheekily.’
”Try me”
“Taylor Swift’s ’22’?”
He shrugs nonchalantly and nods. “All right.”
“You wouldn’t” I gasp. I was totally joking. “You’d never convince Dan and the others.”
“If I do, will you come to Boardies with me?”
…
A coupe of days later, Finn saunters into Seaglass just before the band’s set, looking sexy and unkempt in his grey T-shirt and ripped jeans, his wild hair caressing his cheekbones and falling into his eyes. He flashes me a heart-stopping grin as he and his bandmates take to the stage and launch straight into their first song.
I can’t believe it. It’s a rocked-up version of Taylor Swift’s ’22’.”
THIS SCENE WAS TOO CUTE.
”The man stays true to his word. Over the next week, we reconnect both emotionally and physically, sewing together the seams of the pieces we gave to each other years ago.
When I told Finn that Tom had never wavered, I could have said the same for him. He has never wavered in loving me. The pain of his childhood meant that he couldn’t choose St Agnes, but he always chose me.
I was the one who didn’t choose him.
But now I do. I choose us.”
