This as a perfect end of summer read. Would have given it more ⭐️ but didn’t love the speed of the end of the book (Didn’t match the rest of the book) and made the book feel a bit off. BUT despite that, overall was fun to read (I listened too and liked the voice).

Seven Summers by Paige Toon
5 stars
Spice: 🔥/5
My heart has not recovered. I finished this book Saturday night and I’m just now writing the review (Monday afternoon). The emotional up and down that Paige Toon can weave is unbelievable. I am all in for it though. The angstier, the better. I eat that with whipped cream on top of my sundae.
Liv and Fin. AHHHHH. Liv and Fin. I absolutely loved how Paige Toon gave us past and present. I needed that past so I can feel the physical ache when Tom entered the picture. Paige Toon does not do rom-coms – straight angst and full on romantical prose.
I fell in love when I read her previous books, and I keep falling more in love with them. I feel like, for me, that is saying a lot because her books leave the bedroom scenes more to the imagination. Usually, I like the gritty details but with Paige, her characters are so well fleshed out, full of depth, and she has worked so hard to create that connection that I almost don’t need it. I can just use the words she did provide to imagine what it would be like. I don’t say that about a lot of books. Usually, I see ‘closed door’ romance as an adjective, and I move on by. Paige Toon’s books are completely worth not getting the nitty gritty.
She shook me with the turn of events at the end. I’m pretty sure I gasped out loud. It took me a solid minute to wrap my mind around what happened and how the book ended.
I have never lived abroad, nor have I even visited. I love to read about the UK and imagine the scenery and their lives over there. I think Paige Toon does a fabulous job at immersing the reader into the setting of her books so well.
Poor poor Tom. But Liv and Fin. AH.

I understand why Tom was introduced. She needed someone to choose her for once when every time it came to it, Fin (as much as I loved him), did not choose her. He put her in a constant state of feeling pulled and being asked to leave her home and brother. So, when Tom came around and was steadfast and chose her, I see why she fell in love. I see why the readers didn’t get what we wanted for most of the book.
