the book was kinda boring, but i was not expecting this ending at all
Liv and Finn met six summers ago working at a bar. With their summer flirtation about to end when Finn leaves for America, they are brought together when Liv experiences an unimaginable family tragedy. When Finn leaves, they promise if they are both single next summer when Finn returns, they'll pick up where they left off.
It works for a few years, but when the seventh summer arrives, Liv meets Tom and life takes her in a different direction. Tom's arrival in the small Cornish town bring some mystery, but it's also the first time Liv can imagine herself moving on from Finn. That is until she discovers Tom's secret and has to make an impossible choice.
There was something wonderfully romantic about this novel that I couldn't quite put my finger on while reading, but eventually, I realized that it was the expansive timeline of the relationships. It reminded me of Carley Fortune's writing, which I really enjoyed.
But it's also the thing that didn't make this feel like a typical contemporary romance to me. It felt like a few of the usual romance beats were drawn out.
Ultimately, I enjoyed Seven Summers, and I'm looking forward to reading Only Love Can Hurt Like This soon.

This book was cute and appreciate the story. I love the setting. It felt a little slow and I didn’t feel entirely connected to the characters.
