i enjoyed this one more than i thought i would!
starting this book i was a bit confused on where it was going since there are 2 love interests/stories that play on each other but as i got more into the book it made more sense.
i liked the flipping between past summers and summers now and seeing the perspective of both love stories.
i felt connected to both love interests which surprised me.
this was definitely a different romance than im used to but it pleasantly surprised me!
the ending wasn’t my fave but thats the only reason why i knocked it down 1 star

I didn't know what to expect going into it but it wasn't this. My word! This book broke my heart several times.
It's not at all a standard, fluffy romance which is kinda what I thought it might be. It's more women's fiction (I hate that term) with a healthy dose of romance thrown in. It's very heavy. There's a lot of grief and trauma being processed by the protagonists and I felt like it was handled well.
There's A LOT of "will they won't they" which normally gets on my nerves but somehow it worked here. It didn't feel contrived. The conflict stemmed from plausible circumstances and I was emotionally invested enough to want to see it all worked out. I also really liked that there were no arseholes. Everyone was doing the best they could and I couldn't fault them for it.
I liked all the secondary characters as well. I loved Michael and his and Liv's relationship. I also appreciated the Down's Syndrome representation. I don't think I've ever read that before.
I absolutely loved the setting. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Cornwall. We go every summer we can, my children grew up with lovely memories from there, we stay at the same campsite and that happens to be less than half an hour away from St Agnes. I was always going to love it for this alone. I'm annoyed with myself for not reading this while we were there earlier this month though. 🤦♀️
I deducted half a point for the weird fixation on what everyone was wearing all the time, to the point of getting me out of the story. And the epilogue went a bit too far. We didn't need that many tidy little bows...
