Ok so this was the book that got me into F1 in the first place so it has a special place in my heart. The story is a bit slow at the beginning because Lauren had to kinda introduce the F1 world which I appreciated it but it does back the story up a bit.
I loved Maya, I think the fact that she just wanted to explore and see what was next for her helped her story line so much. Her relationship with Santi was also so cute to read and I throughly enjoyed her character. I did want a little bit more backstory conflict to maybe make sure a stronger FMC but it didn’t make me not enjoy her if it makes sense. Noah! He was great. He was a bit broken (understandable from his family backstory) but he fell so fast and so hard for Maya. I think that the secret dating trope (I usually don’t like that trope) was deserved because of the characters’ story specially Noah’s. I think that Noah fell FAST but he just couldn’t accept it and it took him a while which made it a bit frustrating because as readers it was so clear. Their relationship was so sweet, the banter, the chemistry, the utter need to be around each other, the fact that they were not able to resist each other even when they were trying, and the sneaking around (which I think made it so fun to read) made the relationship so fun to read. I think this is the best book of the series and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. Would definitely read again

This was such a fun audiobook to listen to, time flew while listening. Even if sports romance is a new subgenre to me, it felt familiar in the romance elements and the sports parts fit in very well. I know close to nothing of Formula 1, so I can't say how accurate the depictions are, but the stakes come through and create nice tension in the plot both in the actual races and between the characters. Smut seems to play a big part in Asher's books, and Throttled is no exception. Throttled offers a somewhat slow burn romance; there is instalust, but the MCs Maya and Noah
don't jump on each other immediately, and that slows their actions enough to actually get to know each other. What a wholesome move!

I'll just have to say that Maya'd brother Santi seems like a great guy and I hope we'll get to see more of him later, maybe even stepping up from the sidelines of a supporting sibling character and into the shoes of a main character in a sequel of his own. I'll definitely continue to the sequel to find out.

Lauren Asher seems to be a writer that surprises me by making me like books in subgenres I didn't even think I'd like: first billionaire romance, now a sports romance. Maybe I've been missing out.

This book was better than I expected.
A few cringy writing moments but ultimately I read it in a day so it's just mildly addicting... 😉
