I wasn't too struck with this book at first and nearly considered giving up, however, I'm glad I persisted because it did get better.
Turned out to be a very interesting book. My favourite character was Daisy - such strength, loyalty, and kindness.
Just a trigger warning note (don't read if you don't want a spoiler)
- the maid mentioned that a man tried to force himself on her. The man was not successful and the description of his attempt was not upsetting (for me). It made me anxious for a while after in case he became successful at a later date, so I checked different sources and my partner went through the book to check it was safe. It was in this regards, so I wanted to write this in case it eased someone else's mind.

Given that the last three books I've read have made me cry, this was a nice palate cleanser and a quick read. The story was enjoyable enough, if a little predictable. With multi POV narratives you can end up with a preference for one over the other, but I found that I liked both.
The modern day main character was quite passive which made for a frustrating read at times, especially when it came to the romance sub plot. I found Edwin to be very hollow and saccharine.
Not one of my favourites, and not one that will stick with me, but would be a good holiday read. Definitely made me want to go back to Cornwall!

This was really lovely hitting all the right notes I wanted it to hit. I love a dual timeline. I just had a lovely time caring for these characters generations and worlds apart and discovering how they were linked.
