In the beginning, I couldn't see why people in other reviews talked about how great this book is. I still don't if I'm being completely honest. I don't if it is maybe because I should have read this in high school or if maybe I am missing something that others saw.

While reading this book, I related to Charlie in many ways. I was also a quiet kid who was usually alone. Not because I didn't have friends, but I didn't share classes with them. I felt, and still feel, better being against the wall watching rather than in the crowd. So I related to that so much.

This book also brought back feelings from high school from my first real crush to losing many friends.

Do I think I will read it again? Probably not. But I no longer feel like I was wasting time reading this. The more I write this review, the more I realize I actually like the book. I honestly feel this book would have been a great read for me in high school...you know when I actually got the book and let it set on the shelf for several years.

Dear friend,
thank you.

Čekala jsem vlastně něco naprosto jiného... ale bylo to super. A jsem vážně zvědavá, až uvidím Percyho, Hermionu a Credence jako ty tři. ♥

One of those nostalgic books that still holds up years later. It's a powerful read, raw and emotional, and does not romanticise the darkness in the characters' lives. It's difficult and essential. I think it handles relationships and introspection and mental health in a 'real' way, showing the confusion and messiness as much as the "glory days" of being young and growing up. A brilliant book about finding your people, understanding your family, and what it's like living in your head when your head isn't always a nice place to be.

Short and sweet coming of age story about Charlie, a kid who lives on the fringes. This gives him a unique perspective on his life and the lives of those around him, which he tells in a diary- like fashion. It’s funny, sad, charming, and just irresistible.
