I've been super excited to read this book for a long time. Musketeers and the time period they're set in are a lot of fun to read about. I loved our main character Tania and rooted for her and her friends all the way. My favourite aspect of this book was the characters, they each had their own personalities and felt genuine and real. Unfortunately some elements of the plot felt rushed and underdeveloped. This left a few loose ends and a couple of the plot twists that felt coincidental or predictable, sometimes the characters just seemed very lucky. In the end, I loved the characters, especially Tania, and I'm excited to read more of Lillie's work in the future.

I haven't read the original The Three Musketeers, but I still really enjoyed how the author executed the premise of the original protagonist's daughter navigates being a secret Musketeer while having a chronic illness. While everything wraps up in a satisfactory way, I can also see this being a strong start to a series.

thank you titan books for sending me a proof copy in exchange for a review on the instagram book tour!

one for all is a gender bent retelling of the three musketeers. words cannot explain how much i loved this book! as soon as i saw it had POTS rep, i knew it was something that i wanted to read, then i saw the synopsis and was like YES PLEASE. whilst i’m not formally diagnosed with POTS, i’ve experienced the symptoms of it on an almost daily basis. the rep in this book is top tier. it is consistent and not just used when it was convenient. tania didn’t let her chronic illness hold her back which i loved. what i loved most was the depiction of the other things that come alongside living with a chronic illness such as being isolated and being told that you can’t do what other people do.

the plot was action packed, right from the start. i could not put it down, i was left on the edge of my seat so many times. the romance subplot was amazing, it didn’t overpower the main plot but it also wasn’t underdone.

found family is one or my favourite tropes and lillie lainoff did this perfectly.

honestly, if you don’t read this book, i may have to personally hunt you down and make you (okay i’m kidding… or am i?)

This book was incredible and I think so, so many people would benefit from hearing this story.

This book is about Tania de Batz, a young girl who suffers from POTS, and those around her treat her as weak and ‘broken’ because of this. However, her father, who was a Musketeer, has always been determined to show her own strength. Whenever her father is brutally murdered, she agrees with his wish for her to attend Madame de Treville’s training to make her into a “suitable” wife. However, when she gets there, she discovers a secret: the training is actually an undercover operation to uncover an assassination plot. At Tania becomes stronger, both physically and emotionally, she grows close to the girls she works with, and a specific target. Tania truly comes into her own and it’s beautiful to read in this 3 musketeers retelling.

“To live up to everyone’s expectations, but also wanting to make you own way. To never feel like you’ll be good enough, not in the way you want you to be.”

For the majority of this book, I was leaning towards it being a 4 star read. However, the ending had me shook. Let’s just say it made me think that my intuition sucks. The writing is lyrical and read a lot like a fairytale. Personally, if you like Stephanie Garber’s writing, I think you will love his book. This was an incredible book!

“‘You’re not watching the show,” I chastised… “Maybe not, but I’m watching a wonder infinitely more entrancing.’”

I admit it took a little while to get into this, but then I thoroughly enjoyed it. We definitely need more stories with badass disabled people.
