I wish I had looked more into this book before I read it. I love fairy tale retellings and this looked like it would be a good one. It did have a very interesting take on the story; however, the content, especially at the end, made it not a clean read, which for me is a deal breaker. I will not be reading this story again nor reading any other books by this author.

Content: rape, innuendo, passionate kissing, sex scene, a few mild swear words

As a twist on B&B, this was quite intriguing - what if Beauty herself had cast the curse, but didn't know it?

Unfortunately, in order to have a plot, it resorted to "infuriating miscomunication" and even when things WERE communicated, the other party was just like "nah, I'm not going to believe that....." And it just showed weak writing.

I did appreciate that the beast was a good guy, rather than the total jerk that the Disney movie starts him off as. That was a refreshing change and how I prefer my B&B.

I didn't quite appreciate how much the bedroom came up. Zuleika is assaulted towards the beginning of the book, and after that, the book is just colored by "men are beasts, only here for one thing." Whiiiiiiich, Vardan's chapters and dialogue didn't quite dispell. Oh, and then the book ends on a vaguely described marriage consumation. I like some heat in my romance, but this was just too much in my face for me to enjoy.

Buuuuut, intriguing worldbuilding and I loved the hints of other fairy tales woven especially through the beginning. I have a few more of the series on my kindle and I likely will be reading them.

Casual rape to show how evil the villain is. Just no.

4.5/5 stars! I devoured this book and really enjoyed the retelling of beauty and the beast! I’ve always loved that movie and it was nice to see their story from both POVs!

This was rather underwhelming. But your girl has book 1-3 so we continue.

This is the first book in the Romance a Medieval Fairytale Series and is an intriguing retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It was not my first book in the series that I have read and each story in the series has connections to another and share a world but they don't need to be read in chronological order to be enjoyed. I look forward to reading more of this series.

I really liked this retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I always liked Belle but this version gave her more depth and made her an even stronger character. Beast is also a much deeper character in this version. Having a reason for the curse makes it easier to feel sympathy for him. Happy ever after is how all love stories should end.
