I read this on audio and I don’t know if that was the right idea. The reason why is because at times Felix reminded me of Holden from the Catcher in the Rye. As someone who is not part of the LGBTQ community but I am an ally, this was incredibly informative. Kacen Callender is an incredible writer and he was able to show the difficulties LGBTQ teens go through on a day to day basis.

Tale of self discovery
Flawed messy characters
Trans/
demiboy
main character
Discussions of privilege and classism
Abandonment
Transphobia

Tropes:
Love triangle
Friends to lovers

Personally not a fan of the underage drinking

The audiobook narrator worked well for Felix. But the audiobook version I listened to still had Harry Potter references which could be triggering.

This is a good book. I listened to it through audiobook format and I liked the way the story played out as I ran my runs or listened to it in a coffee shop. Felix is trans and is in search of identity. Felix has a friend, an enemy, and a portfolio to make before it is too late.

In an art program in New York Felix is having issues with his art. And then a mysterious genderqueer shows up in his life putting all his girlhood photos out for the whole school to see. At the same time, Felix is falling in love with a guy who used to date his best friend Ezera.

The pace of this book is about medium pace. It is the story of an adolescent trans boy. There is a bit of mystery as Felix tries to find who is harassing him online and putting photos of him as a girl in the school. It's also a love story as Felix comes to terms with his identity and his feelings towards other characters. Overall, Overall the story is pretty good. Diverse, creative, and likable characters.

This book was truly inspiring and informative.
I was happy to read a book that was effortlessly diverse in characters, with strong development and a love triangle, lol :))

I truly enjoyed the last chapters I was so emotional, i cried rivers, and sty till late night to finish it.

I love that I read a book whose title included the words “once upon” and then immediately read a book with a title including the words “ever after.” I just think it’s neat. Felix is a trans high schooler trying to find love and focus on his summer art portfolio for his elite high school. But Felix is being harassed online and in school by an anonymous fellow student at his school. Determined to figure out who’s behind it and get revenge, Felix is blind to the love that surrounds him. This book was so wonderful. I read the first 50 pages and then the next day I read the rest of it in one go. I could not put it down. The end was so healing and wonderful.
