This says it’s a romance but that was very secondary to this plot.
It was very much about Sara’s tech start up and all the challenges that go into getting funding. Starts out with her quitting her tech job where she is under appreciated and then throws herself into starting her own company One Last Word where when you die emails you have written will go out but a glitch occurs and all her joke emails go out. Which causes chaos in her life and brings some old friends and crushes back into her life.
Maybe it didn’t feel very romance-y to me because the mmc was insufferable and they had no chemistry? I’m not sure but I had a hard time getting into this one.
Thanks to Netgalley and Avon for an EARC.

It was a good read. It’s just messy. Sara’s life is so messy. She seems so strong and independent in her career but not in her relationships. I guess that’s true to all millennials working women who tends to overworked to prove their place in the corporate world.

Sara Chae creates an app that will send “One Last Word” when someone passes away.
Unfortunately, her test messages actually get sent out. I hesitate to say “unfortunately” because it’s definitely not the worst thing that could happen.
Sara wrote messages to her parents, her high school crush, her ex-best friend, and a few others.
This leads to some awkward, but possibly long overdue, conversations and some interesting reunions.
When her high school crush reappears after the email it turns out he’ll also be working as her mentor while working on her app.
I enjoyed the book but it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I think I expected more of the storyline to deal with the messages Sara sent. Ultimately it was about Sara’s relationships with her family, friends, her love life and her work life balance.
