Owl's Slumber, Nicky James

Excellent portrayal of anxiety and panic attacks! Finn was so relatable; battling a deep seated fear, overcome by anxiety. Aven was his rock in the fight to regain control of his life.
Fantastic story! 5/5
Medium heat. 2/5
Highly relatable characters! 5/5
Mild angst. 2/5
Well written. 5/5

Thought-provoking

I’m loving Nicky James’ books dealing with unusual phobias or conditions. Before reading this, I couldn’t even grasp how someone could possibly have a fear of sleep, but she clearly did her research and it was gripping and plausible.

Both characters were lovable, and their connection was pretty much instant. Aven spent much of the book supporting Finn through his issues, so it was nice to get to see Finn return that support at one point. The ending left a smile on my face. Looking forward to the next one!

4 stars for the book
5++++ stars for the audiobook.
Adam Gold is SPECTACULAR.

I remember being fascinated with this series back when I read years ago. Especially sleep phobia which was something I hadn't heard of before.
I can't even imagine being in Finley's shoes. I love my sleep...and not sleeping gives me severe migraines. Being actually afraid of going to sleep would probably make me crazy.

I adored Aven. He's a perfect boyfriend and his support of Finn was heartwarming.

Big winner for me. On to book 2.

Kind of sad, kind of boring, too emotional without enough action.

the MC with the phobia is a closed off, disaster, angry, scared, jerk. The author tells us that MC2 is falling in love with him because he enjoys the time they are together. Only, we never see that as the reader. The only times we're there for are breakdowns and screaming and shoving away MC2. They never had a previous relationship- this is all it's been and if MC2 likes this flaming dumpster of a relationship then there are even bigger issues. I cannot. Everyone loves this book so it must be me.
