As with a lot of early 19th century books, the first 2/3 feature a healthy dose of nothing and then all the action happens at the end. When it does, it’s quite fun though.

This is one of the most relaxing things I've ever read. It took me more than a month to finish it because I would read it at bedtime and then fall asleep after a page or two. I've been basically using it as a sleeping pill. It's not even boring, just incredibly comforting, like a purring cat, a warm cup of chamomile tea and a soft, fluffy blanket on a cold night. I'm getting relaxed just thinking about it. Obviously, not scary, but I don't think that's really the point. Now all I need is an audiobook version with, say, Stephen Fry narrating. I'll never wake up again!

A very descriptive author, that's for sure!

It took me more than a year to get through this book, and I skipped about half of the stories. "The Legend of Sleepy Horror" and "Rip Van Winkle" are the only fictional stories in the book - the rest deal with Irving's life in England.

I couldn't really relate to this author. In my opinion, there are better writers out there.

Cuento corto, para leer en 1 hora o menos, pero no me gustó. Prefiero las adaptaciones cinematográficas

I had to read this for school, so I’m definitely biased, but it was really difficult for me to read. The prose was really complex and hard to understand. It likely would have been better for me if I had an audio book to help me detect tone, but as for reading alone, I didn’t enjoy it too much.
