lighthearted

The audiobook narrator is awful.
I wish I had just read a physical copy instead.

I'm sitting at about 3.75 stars for this one. I like the way entrepreneurship is handled in this story as opposed to some that I've read. It's certainly a new kind of business for a grade schooler to run! I enjoyed the family dynamic and the fact that JD is gifted at something that I've never heard of a young person doing before. Definitely a great read for business minded young people, especially boys.

I read this aloud with my two boys (9 and 10) and they really enjoyed it. We enjoyed reading about JD and his family and how he overcame a bad haircut from his mom to become a young entrepreneur. Great story and we can’t wait to read the next books in the series.

I actually enjoyed reading this.

Eight year old J.D turns a tragic at home haircut into a thriving barber business. He’s mom cuts his hair at home but it’s bad his hairline is uneven and when he gets to school he get insults from the entire school, so he takes matter into his own hands and fix his hair. Turns out he’s a genius with the clippers. At eight. With him being as young as he is being in elementary school he is the talk of the town being able to cut hair as good as he can. But the only barbershop in town does end up losing business to him and is jealous. So a GROWN person is trying to do what he can to shut J.D down and get his clients back.

This started out with a lot of promise. I loved the idea of his mom going back to school and giving with his grandparents, because I think a lot of kids can relate to that. But slowly this book started to decline and seem a bit shallow and very unrealistic. It was okay.

The audiobook is not very good
