And it only took me 10 months to read!!
This book felt like such a return to high fantasy form after a long dark time where teen urban fantasy romances were taking over.
I really enjoyed spending time in this world, incredibly immersive writing!
I wish we had spent more time with the Eastern dragons and the final battle felt a bit rushed.
But overall, fantastic world building and a great fantasy story!

Wow, it was everything I could have wanted from a queer high fantasy book. The enemies to lovers, magic, world building, political intrigue, and personal journeys in this book are all amazing. It never felt too long or boring things were constantly happening, revelations shook me when I red them and I kept rooting for all of the characters against their odds. If anything I wish it had been longer or potentially split because the resolution felt more rushed at the end and I would have loved more engaging action scenes at the climactic battle. Overall loved it and can't wait to read the prequel!

While I did enjoy the book, some parts felt underdeveloped. Some plot points were left unresolved at the end while others could have been cut or shortened. I found Ead's perspective and relationship with Sabran more interesting than Tané and her dragon.
