This one was a DNF for me. I absolutely loved the main character, but at some point the political intrigue overcame the sci-fi in plot time, and I lost interest. If you're looking for a political thriller with some sci-fi thrown in, this one is for you!

Up and Ella

Io, after the the unexpected death of her host, inhabits the closest body, one Ella Patel, 19 years old, conwoman and thief. A reluctant partnership is forged between them, and Ella is resistant in always every way. Io, however, has secrets, some so big that they are worth killing for. Both Io and Ella find themselves struggling to trust each other and their alleged allies, but for different reasons.

I think this is my favorite of all the Quasing books so far.

The setting starts out in an interesting manner, but the explanation of parasitic aliens turning earth into a battlefield since the dinosaurs is a bit much to swallow. The aliens come across as monsters even though the writing doesn’t seem to expect they reaction. Shura was the last straw. She’s presented as the most over the top femme fatale, spouting “That’s misogynistic” in the middle of a murder like the worst parody of feminism.  It was even more disappointing because Ella is written believably enough. But I couldn’t get past Shura and the world building doesn’t even make me want to try.

A fantastic and unique story with a main character that is both flawed and likeable in a rough and tumble way. Seriously hard to put down.
