I hate all the cussing, but I loved the premise. It made me cry twice. Nothing groundbreaking, but what I wanted at the time

Okay I read this with high expectations and was slightly disappointed šŸ˜ž I really liked it up until this "fight" between the two mc's bc Wes made a shitty decision that was addressed but not met with any reparations. I do see how it happens but I don't like how it went and how Wes turned out to be. I still love him though. Not enough smut for my taste. Also felt kinda slow.

There are so many things to love about this book, even though the plot balances on one of my *least* favorite tropes: lying. Wes and Britta donā€™t miss a single opportunity to not come clean about their real identities for most of the story. Gang. This bothers me. It makes me so anxious for the inevitable conflict when the couple finds out the lie and it laces every interaction with an uncomfortable power imbalance that makes it so hard for me to swoon as hard as I want to. I needed about 20% less lying and 20% more banging, but here we are.

That said, I loved Britta. And Wes! And Brittaā€™s friends! The wedding scene in this book is super swoony, and following Britta fall in love with exercise and herself was really great. Brittā€™s is supremely likable and relatable. Love love love her. Can we have more heroines like this please? Can we have more heroines who enjoy exercise at all sizes too? There is a trope where FMCs just donā€™t like working out and Iā€™m here for a lazy day, but there are so many benefits to exercise beyond what you look like and I want more of that represented.

Denise Williams can write a toxic ex!!!! Wow. Kelsey?! šŸ˜¤ This is after putting one of the worst fictional men into the universe in How to Fail at Flirting: Davis. This book is teeming with superbly unlikeable jerks. We have Ben, the toxic hipster, Mason the douche-y marketer (who totally redeems himself!), and Wesā€™s mom, who more than anything is sad, but woof, also brutally difficult to deal with (great redemption arc here, too!)

Plot:āāāā/5
Characters:āāāā/5
Spice:šŸŒ¶ļøšŸŒ¶ļø/5
Synopsis: Britta didnā€™t plan on falling for her personal trainer, and Wes didnā€™t plan on Britta. Plans change and itā€™s unclear if love, career, or both will meet them at the finish line.

Britta Colby works as an assistant for a lifestyle website who's dream is to became  a write. She's asked to collaborate with another employee to each write a review for a different fitness app and whoever wins will get the position.
Wes Lawson is the CEO of the FitMe app and his ex girlfriend who broke up with him to work at a rival company tries to reconnect with him. He also has some family issues so he needs a distraction. He decides to get back to what he lovesā€”coaching. Brittaā€™s his first new client and they click immediately.

Review: Their romance was really cute and that fact that they met anonymously showed  that they genuinely cared about each other. They both tried to date other people, but they always came back to one another. It was pretty obvious that Britta writing the article would cause conflict but I really enjoyed the way they figured thing out. I was also really glad to see the plus size representation.
