I found the repetitive description of scents a bit annoying, and the use of brand names was kinda weird and took me out of the story but all in all a cool idea and an engaging read. The big sisters definitely read like what kids think cool adults are like (the fashion and the punk and the beauty etc etc) but it has to be forgiven since the book is itself aimed at teens.

This was such an enjoyable and engaging read that I got my book club to read it and it was one of the first books everyone agreed on. We loved the characters, the plot was well paced and kept you guessing, there was just the right amount of violence and gore for a horror book without tipping over into being gratuitous. I highly recommend this one and hope the author finds a way to keep the story going!

GODDD THE DESCRIPTIONS IN THIS ARE SO GOOD. from practically square one the atmosphere is just so intoxicating, shit drew me in so strongly i read almost all of this in a single day which is something i can almost never pull off for books this long

This book was hauntingly beautiful in a way that made me want to read it again when I finished it to look for anything I had missed. I was very impressed with the vocabulary of the author and her ability to describe characters and setting as if we were stepping into the story.

to begin i would like to say, i’m unapologetically 100% team grey. the author’s attention to details and really setting the scene was a nice touch. this was my first YA since no longer being a young adult myself but i didn’t mind it! i was looking for a little bit of a more spooky vibe and a little bit more into the lore but as a whole this was a good book especially if you’re just beginning to get into this genre!
