This is definitely my favorite of the series so far. I loved the back and forth from Botswana to Boston. Just a terrific book that had me hooked from page one to the end.

Tess Gerritsen’s books are such easy, page-turning reads whilst dealing with grizzly crimes. I have grown tired of many formulaic crime series but I keep coming back to Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles. The characters’ lives are as much a draw as the mysteries they solve.

I enjoyed the tension of the chapters in Botswana, told in first person by Millie, a woman dragged into the wilderness by her boyfriend who has already grown tired of her. At first, she seems like a bit of a wet blanket, being rough ridden over by a man more interested in nature and the two attractive blondes that are part of their group. But she soon comes to prove herself resilient and the key to the whole thing.

Without too much of a spoiler, cats large and small are a big part of the story. The Boston victim’s cats are taken in, one by Maura who doesn’t adjust well to the life of a cat owner. It doesn't quite fill the gap left by Father Brody. There’s ever present danger of the big cats in Botswana and the less obvious danger of those in captivity. The story also touches on hunting and the ethics, whether for food or for sport.

First off I have to say...OMG! It has been some books a while ago since I read one from this author. After reading this book I plan to go back and check out the ones I missed and don't let this happen again. This book reminded me of why I first fell in love with the talented Tess Gerritsen. One of my favorite duos in the mystery, suspense genre is Jane and Maura. Otherwise know as Rizzoli and Isles. They are so different but could not be more perfect together. As the saying goes...Opposites attract.

This book started out strong and did not let up once not even at the ending. Which the ending was great. The author did not rush it but drew it out for the perfect conclusion. I kept trying to figure out the connection with the murders and could never do so until the reveal. Both storylines of Boston and South Africa were exciting. Sometimes this does not always happen with a book where both storylines are equally matched. Die Again will have you sitting on the edge of your seat guessing until the very end!

I really like her books but I do feel the more I read that the endings are a little rushed just to tie up the loose ends and they are a little predictable but I do t know if that is just because I have read all her books.
I would carry on reading them though as they are entertaining

A special thank you to Random House and First Reads for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What an adventure! Dynamic duo, Detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner, Maura Isles return in Tess Gerritsen’s latest heart-pounding thriller, DIE AGAIN from Boston to the wilds of Botswana, for a terrifying adventure. The crime solving pair, of course is the inspiration behind TNT’s hit show Rizzoli & Isles.

Broken in two parts for a multi-layered fast-paced action thriller. Narrated by a woman on a safari in Okavango Delta, Botswana 6 years prior as the case unfolds--she the only survivor found in South Africa, and brought to Boston to help solve the murders. An electrifying thriller, where the world’s most bloodthirsty predators lie in wait behind every hidden crevice.

Rizzoli and Isles find themselves close on the trail of a murderer, who sadistic styling mimic a leopard on the prowl. After linking the latest crime, sixty-four year old big game hunter and taxidermist Leon Gott,(a house like Noah’s Ark with mounted animals), to a series of unsolved homicides in wilderness areas across the country, where answers may be found in a remote corner of South Africa.

Six years earlier, a group of tourists on safari fell prey to a killer in their midst. But the deadliest predator was already among them, he walked away with the blood of all but one of them on his hands.

Now this killer has chosen Boston as his new hunting ground, and Rizzoli and Isles must find a way to lure him out of the shadows and into a cage. Even if it means using the one victim as bait; the one victim who got away-- Millie Jacobson, the safari’s only survivor. (the account of how they were trapped and terrified --an unsolved massacre in years past- haunting!)

This was the most chilling and suspenseful novel, gripping you as you want to cover your eyes in the scary parts; however, you are dying to turn the page to discover the fate of the innocent against the savage beast.

Gerritsen definitely takes readers into the criminal minds and the best of forensic sciences where there is much detail of predators, animals and humans; vivid settings and descriptions –From footsteps to whispers, she calculates every move. Tess plunges deep into the dark human behaviors for a haunting and suspenseful tale page-turner mystery which her fans will agree this one is a SCORE!

Rizzoli and Isles are back in top form with Die Again. The book is divided between a past event and a current murder investigation. I enjoyed how the chapters move you through time to what was to what is. One wonders how a murder in Boston can be linked to a safari expedition, but in Gerritsen style she weaves a complex storyline and is able to not lose the reader. This one lacks her touches of the supernatural, but still a wild ride.
