Really nice book you really want to know the end.
But a little predictable, they woudn't put in a story line that has nothing to do with the fist murder.

Die Leiche eines Jägers und Tierpräparators wird aufgehängt und ausgeweidet aufgefunden, die Bostoner Polizei fängt an zu ermitteln. In den Wäldern werden Knochenreste eines anderen Opfers entdeckt. Aber Boston scheint nicht das einzige Jagdrevier des Killers zu sein, denn es scheint eine Verbindung zu einem fünf Jahre zurückliegenden Vorfall in Afrika zu geben, wo die Teilnehmer einer Safari auf ungeklärte Weise verschwanden...
Dies ist der elfte Fall mit Jane Rizzoli und Maura Isles der sie diesmal sogar auf einen anderen Kontinent führt.
Das Buch gliedert sich in zwei Erzählstränge, die sich immer wieder abwechseln.
In Boston ermittelt Jane Rizzoli in einem bizarren Mord an einem Jäger und Tierpräparators. Er wurde wie seine Beute aufgehangen und ausgeweidet. Bald word ein Skelett gefunden und Maura Isles sieht eine Verbindung zwischen den Fällen und versucht die Ermittlerteams davon zu überzeugen.
Der zweite Erzählstrang spielt in Botswana, fünf Jahre früher und wird in der Ich-Perspektive erzählt. Ein mehr oder weniger idyllische Safari-Reise entwickelt sich zum Horrortrip, bei dem es scheinbar kein entkommen gibt.
Ich mag die Bücher um Rizzoli und Isles und auch hier konnte mich die Geschichte begeistern. Lange tappt man in Boston im dunkeln und Maura hat es wirklich schwer die Ermittler, und auch Jane davon zu überzeugen das ein Serienkiller sein unwesen treibt. Bei diesem Erzählstrang geht es vor allem um die Ermittlung, der wirkliche Spannungsbogen wurde für mich im zweiten Erzählstrang aufgebaut. Gekonnt entwickelt sich die vermeintliche Idylle zum absoluten Horror und gespannt wartete ich als Leser darauf, was als nächstes Geschehen wird.
Erst zum Schluss wird klar wie die Erzählstränge wirklich zueinander gehören und warten dann noch mit einer Überraschung auf.
Die privaten Geschehnisse um die Hauptprotagonisten Rizzoli und Isles nehmen in diesem Buch nur eine untergeordnete Rolle ein und umranden die Geschichte. Persönlich gefällt mir die Entwicklung der Maura Isles in diesem Buch nicht so, und fände es Schade, wenn sich ihre Rolle so weiter entwickeln würde.
Mein Fazit:
Für mich ein spannender Thriller den ich gerne weiterempfehle und auch wenn es sich um ein Reihenbuch handelt kann es gut einzeln gelesen werden. Fans von Großkatzen kommen hier auch auf ihre Kosten, da man reichlich über ihr Jagdverhalten lernt.

Weaving the clues of two Boston homicides together, Detective Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles end up solving a six year old crime in Botswana as well.
For some reasons - perhaps the story within the story, the flashbacks to the murders in Botswana - this chapter in the Rizzoli and Isles series felt different to me, but not in a bad way. I liked the way the story moved back and forth.
One word of warning: if you are an animal lover, you might want to skip this one. Lots of descriptions of hunted (and stuffed) animals as well as vivid scenes of skinning and evisceration of internal organs.

This is the first Tess Gerritsen book I've read. Great pacing, good characters, vivid descriptions. Smart, taut, and gripping. Gave me enough to figure out some of the mystery and feel like I was a decent sleuth, but not so much to make me feel like I was way ahead of the detectives and have the book fall flat.
My biggest complaint is probably that it contains spoilers for at least one earlier book in the Rizzoli & Isles series. I happened to buy that book (THE SURGEON) at the same time as DIE AGAIN, and after liking DIE AGAIN so much, I wanted to jump into the other one right away. So, if you care about spoilers for past books, I'd say read the Rizzoli & Isles ones in sequence.
All in all, DIE AGAIN is a solid, well-written, very enjoyable mystery/thriller. Looking forward to reading more of Gerritsen's books soon.

As always, Tess Gerritsen wrote a great book! The story was intriguing and full of twists without being too long. I especially enjoyed the backstory of one of the main characters in the book. However, Tess Gerritsen's books are not for the faint of heart. If you don't like crime scene descriptions or autopsies, these books are for you.
