I have a really positive experience of working at a few Starbucks locations in the early 2000s. Perhaps I was feeling nostalgic for an earlier time in my life, but I was really interested in reading more about the company straight from the desk of the CEO. While that's partially true here (he's got a cowriter who probably did a fair share of the work), it's an interesting look at how Starbucks was turned around from a company in trouble to one that continues to thrive to this day.

The book's longer than it needs to be - there's a tendency to tell the same stories multiple times, including a vendetta against egg sandwiches - but it's an enjoyable read if you're interested in the subject matter. I enjoyed it enough that I'm tempted to dig further back in time and read Schultz's first book, but it wasn't compelling enough that that book needs to be the very next thing I read.
