Interesting plot but unlikable characters. You can tell Gaider wasn’t the driving force behind DA’s inclusivity.
CW: death of dog, parental abandonment, SI, sexism, racism, questionable consent

The rest of this long winded review is at [Night Mode Reading]: The book is slow, I won't deny it. There's a lot of walking in the dark, and getting to know each other. Action too often reminded me of a mush from Origins, Deep Roads quest and Circle of Magi combined. But hey, there was a fight with a dragon, and we got to know Alistair's mother better, not to mention a closer look to Architect. I give this book 4 out of 5, can't give it more, but refuse to give it any less either.

I enjoyed this much more than Stolen Throne!!
It was really nice getting to know Duncan better, and all the leading into and foreshadowing for DA:O made me, as a fan, really happy.
That epilogue.......I'm emotional about Alistair but what else is new

This book is set in the deep roads. I hate the deep roads. Having said that, I still enjoyed this book even if it was quite slow at times. I loved the characters and the romances. I could’ve done with a bit more romance and less darkspawn but that’s just my personal preference.

there's a lot I don't like about the series, but it gets a generous star because I deeply love Dragon Age.
