A good friend recently told me he doesn’t like movies that sell themselves by comparing to other more successful movies. Probably applies to books as well. This book styles itself as a thriller in the vein of the DaVinci Code (which I didn’t like) but somehow better. Perhaps it is better, but I’ll never know. The writing is pedantic and the story does not engage me. DNF.

A really great book that reads like an Indiana Jones/thriller combination. Archeology, police work, Palestine, Israel, and a Holy Jewish artifact...very good.

The overall impression of the novel was like putting back a beautifully intricate jigsaw puzzle.

The book doesn't really have to coax me into liking it because I am already in love with 50% of it - Egypt, history, culture, food, etc. The Holocaust, Nazi, Israel and West Bank are bonus.

The pace is slow in momentum, giving background for tempestuous events. The writer doesn't just did his research but lived, dwell and in fact convinced me that he had been to this places and saw everything. The little things, subtle hints are well played.

I'm a fan.

Great book. Other reviews said it was like The DaVinci Code and it was in the same vein but I felt more thrilling. The end was a surprise and there were convincing twists regarding certain characters. Could have done without some of the foul language but then again one cannot censor anothers view. Would highly recommend it.

Awalnya mengerikan dan menyakitkan.

Kemudian mendebarkan.

Lalu menyedihkan.

Berakhir dengan mengharukan, membahagiakan dan memberikan harapan.

Above average writing. Did not see the ending coming with the journalist - almost out of left field. Suprised at the lack of "supernatural" elements, since most other books with this subject have them or hint at them. Nice change for once! Took a long time to come together, but a good read overall.
