não vou negar que pulei algumas linhas que tinha muita matemática mas po é um livro bonito
Not the first time I cried over a book about math, but still.
This was such a bittersweet story following a maths professor whose memory lasts 80 minutes, and the housekeeper who looks after him. The friendship they formed was so sweet and I loved the dynamic between them and Root, the housekeepers son.
I thought this was such a heartwarming read and I liked how unique the concept was too. Glad I read this and would definitely recommend it!

i am aware that two months ago my statement could’ve been different but today i dare to say, i really loved this book. right now, i feel like it was really calming and pleasing but also i can imagine myself seeing this kind of writing as sth boring. nevertheless, i think it’s one of the greatest books i’ve read and deep down i know i will discover new things about it every time i re-read it.

I'll admit I haven't read much Japanese literature. I haven't read any in the native language, as far as I can recall. That said, this book is wonderful. I was waiting for a twist or turn a la Haruki Murakami but none came. Still, Ogawa's ability to express things in a way that touches the soul was amazing. It definitely makes me want to re-read this one - in Japanese next time around - to appreciate the intricacies of her writing style even more.
It helped that two of the protagonists were Hanshin Tigers fans, and that they talked about the team's history - with surprising accuracy - throughout the story.
