This was just MEH. This book was SO LONG and not that much even happened for it to be this long. I don’t really know what I expected this to be but this wasn’t it. I don’t think I’ll continue with the series because I don’t really care what happens next and the book was just too long.
I am convinced the sisters are not capable of writing a bad book. I’m OBSESSED. I was worried at first about a book playing on the pandemic but I am SOLD. It seems to be a solid combination of Ruthless Boys and Zodiac Academy and I am LIVING for it.

How shit what did I just read?! I couldn’t put it down, finished in 2 days. The character development is amazing. The pain and anger the author gets you to feel is so real. Tatum is a total badass and this is a true bully romance, you hate the kings- despise them. I can’t wait for book 2

Not my favorite
I loved ZA and the Ruthless Boys series but I'm not sure if I can warm up to Kyan, Saint and Blake.
I do love Monroe. I don't know what it is about Susanne and Caroline writing asshole-y sexy teachers but I'm here for that!

“Because how could I destroy three monsters without becoming one myself?”
When my dad dropped me off at Everlake Prep, I honestly thought I might enjoy spending my senior year here. The campus was gorgeous and the boys were even more appetising than greek gods.
Then news of the Hades virus broke and everything went to hell. The entire school turned on me and now I've become the prey of the Night Keepers, the three boys that rule this school with bloody fists and make even teachers bend to their will through violence and money.
Saint, Kyan and Blake forced me to partake in a ritual that now ties me to them as their slave, but what they didn't realise is that I bow to no one and every wrong they put me through will be paid back tenfold.
Prepare to enrol at Everlake Prep. Bring your hand sanitiser, face masks and toilet paper to barter with, but don’t expect to hold onto them for long. Because it’s time to go into quarantine with the Night Keepers. And everything you own now belongs to them.
“You lost, baby?” Kyan purred as he towered over her and her jaw ticked as her gaze dragged over him.
“I was told to take a seat beside the biggest asshole in the room so I’m pretty sure I found the right place,” she replied coolly.
“Naw,” he replied casually. “You’d wanna sit next to Saint in that case.”
“Tatum Rivers belonged to me and I had no intention of that ever changing. She’d wormed her way beneath my skin and I’d given my word to protect her as my own.”
~Personal Thoughts~
What a wild ride. This is by far not my first book by the Twisted Sisters, but damn they really go full in with bully romances. There are definitely a lot of parallels to their other series: fierce FMC that knows how to fight like a pro, teacher romance, unredeemable bullies, steam and banter.
"I am the dark in the dead of night...HEAR ME ROAR!"
The bullying in this book is atrocious, the worst I've ever seen, so if you thought ZA was tough you'll be in for a ride because their motivation for bullying Tatum is just a weak excuse for their twisted games with her. However, what I love about the way the sisters write bully romance, is the fact that the FMC is never truly a victim, she cannot be broken no matter how much shit they put her through and instead will bide her time until she can hit back at her tormentors with equal viciousness.
"The days are long, but the nights are dark."
Does it feel weird to read a pandemic story when real-life events are still so fresh? Absolutely. But similar to Darkmore Penitentiary, the main characters are isolated from the outside world and the virus is more of a background plot device. However, you will witness hauntingly familiar scenes, such as toilet paper panic buys, face masks and government conspiracies.
From the first book alone, you truly cannot see any redeeming qualities in the boys, but having read the second one already I can attest that the sisters are masters of the redemption arc. You liked Orion from ZA? You will quickly swoon over Monroe, the broody coach and P.E. teacher.
It might go without saying but serious trigger warnings are in order because this is one dark why-choose romance.
