The good - the audio narration is on POINT, the pandemic plot is woven in well to everything else going on.
The concerns - as a fan of bully romance, namely HAVOC, I’m all about rude boys. But, there’s a line. There’s something redeeming or even understandable about their behavior and there’s an identifiable shift from hatred to love with respect to the FMC. Trauma, danger, whatever it is - something brings them close. I assume the next book develops the male characters more, but it bothers me that 16 HOURS into a series I can’t see one single redeeming quality or even an inkling of a turning point aside from the obvious plot. So many scenes just made me uncomfortable, while some did make me happy to see for the structure of the book.
I’ll try book 2, but I’ve got my doubts.

As with so many books by these authors, this series will dominate my life for a few days and I will be totally absorbed by it.
It would have been really fun to read at the height of covid as it really captures those early days of panic and hoarding. It is very dark and the night keepers are nasty. I was put off by the whole high school romance thing, because it's not really my thing. So mostly I have just been pretending they are a bit older!
It is a fun book though. And certainly gripping. I will continue reading the series.

DNF - I read half of this book, but I wasn’t staying engaged with the story.

I almost didn't read this because of the top 1 star review, but I loved Zodiac academy so I was like I'm gonna try it anyway.
Zodiac academy is a little different because they are Fae and Bullying is kinda the norm in their world, which you find out later in the series which softens the blow. It's also not a RH.
ANYWHO...
This was rough. Like I was uncomfortable, and by the end of the book no one is rememable at that point. Except maybe Kyan. But I love villains so...
While the 1 star review was dead on about just about everything I still liked it.
If you don't like getting your feelings hurt, second hand embarrassment or absolutely hating a character than you should pass.
Also there are editing issues.
THIS book is unrealistic for so many reasons but it was an experience.
I gave it 4 stars because I felt embarrassed betrayed and hate.
I'm not sure how I got sucked in to RH Bully romances but I'm enjoying them lol.
6 years ago, I wouldn't have considered it.
I also stopped reading for years because everything started to feel the same and this genre has helped me love reading again.

The twisted sisters always make me contemplate my life, my decisions ,my lack of self preservation, and my serious need of therapy. Because why do I always get all hot and bothered with theirs books? Why is it about this mess of a plot that I liked so much, I finished all books in like 3 days?
3.5 to 4 stars
I have to say I love these authors and don't get me wrong the book is good. However, I'm disappointed in the typical immature and predictable: guy bullies girl because of something her parent did (which I'm guessing was framed for- not spoiler because idk and it's not revealed in this book lol) and takes it way too far then realises he likes her but she rejects him because of what he did and wants revenge until she eventually gives in (obviously that hasn't happened yet but I'd bed that's basically how it'll go).
I'd be willing to bet the next book straight after the ending of this one where there's a chance to turn her hate into well love that they'll do something to her immediately after to ensure they remain in "power" and it will cement that revenge.
I actually hate Blake's character. Kyan and Monroe you can get behind. Saint is an idiot but Blake is a complete moron haha
Still, the writing is pretty good and except for the parts like I mentioned above I haven't been able to put it down. Maybe I'm just getting a little old for the 17 year old HS bully romance category

I wanted to like this book based on the reviews I had seen but for me I think they took the bullying way too far and it was more abusive behaviour than enemies to lovers.
The virus storyline also seemed more of an after thought with not a lot of backstory. The story also dragged on and was repetitive in some of the details.
Overall wasn’t the worst book I have read but didn’t live up to the hype and could be very triggering.
