Intimate, inspiring, revelatory, profound, resplendent...there are no words that can adequately capture the power and eloquence with which my forever First Lady tells her story. It's one of the best memoirs I've ever read, and it's certainly my favorite political memoir. Mrs. Obama is an extraordinary storyteller

Michelle Obama is a great woman! She has a huge heart and her passion is clearly the well-being of children! She did a great job of reflecting on oppression in her community as a young girl, and the sad awareness that her life may have been significantly different had she not been provided with this one opportunity of advancement AS A SECOND GRADER!
This left me feeling sad for the remaining class full of educationally neglected 2nd graders, but the truth is this happens everyday, still! Imagine how much potential is overlooked for children, simply because they are minorities — yes, white privilege is real!… These are the type of thoughts that this book provoked, and I’m glad!!
This wasn’t a book about race, but the theme is not ignorable. The deepest takeaway from this book is that she writes about her concerns of Barack running for presidency, but supported his decision, because “Barack was a black man in America after all. I didn’t really think he could win”.
If that doesn’t scream institutionalized oppression, I don’t know what does.
She was a great First Lady, and I am proud of Michelle for her ability to remain authentically true to herself throughout her time in the White House despite the ongoing judgment.
And lastly, after awhile, if you have to stop faking a smile, THAT IS OK!! #IYKYK

Michelle Obama will always be my FLOTUS. I loved her prior to reading this book. I love her quotes, insights, words of wisdom and this book didn't disappoint. I normally stay away from posting reviews regarding anything political, however, this book transcends politics. We are all human being FIRST!
