I’m a bit late to the party on reading this book, but it was an exceptional and well done book on the life of Michelle Obama. That is all.
A thoughtful interesting look at her life and of course life in the white house. My one problem was that sometimes it revolved a bit too much around Barack's story and his presidency, but of course that was her life. Her voice was intelligent, self-aware and frank. Happy to have learned as well from this of some of the initiatives she championed, am sure she will be involved in other good ones in the future. The world could use more people like her.
It took me a while to get into it, but I really liked reading Becoming. I honestly picked up the book to read about what happens behind the scenes of the White House, and I can't say I was disappointed. I learned a lot about the staff of the White House. It was also interesting to read about the security protocol of the Secret Service, how it felt like to live at the White House, how much work went into those campaigns.. .
I also loved reading about how Michelle became the woman she is today. It was really interesting to read about Barack Obama through her eyes, and seeing her navigate a political world she wasn't a big fan of. I read it with one of my friends and the book has definitely sparked some interesting conversation.

I'd be more inclined to give it 4 1/2 stars. The book was amazing. I listened to it read by her on an audiobook. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that it could have been a little less self aggrandizing. I think she is a genuine, sincere and truly giving superwoman. This is worth reading.

Well, it’s not bad by any means. Obama is a very lyrical writer. It’s just that she’s also very private, and private people who write books don’t tend to offer insights into anything, because they are private people. So I enjoyed the first half but also felt like I was being kept at arms length, and then when it got to Obama’s senate run, it was just things I knew, albeit from the other side. I’m sure there were engaging stories in the second half, but I was checked out.
