I’m not one into politics but I’ve always adored the Obamas. They were America’s game changer and even though I’m not an American myself, I miss them.
Becoming is such a raw, true and real story on how a normal family later turned into the First Family. Written in Michelle’s POV, it gives us an insight on how it was for her growing up, meeting former president Barack Obama and how the election process had been for them and what comes after. To get to hear and experience it all through her writing, it’s unimaginable and to think that they went through all that. Hats off to this family.
Barack Obama was such a hardworking and intelligent man who gave it all when it comes to achieving his dreams and to see how loyal Michelle was standing beside him along the way, with ups and downs and optimistic and pessimistic thoughts that gathers in her head sometimes, shows just how loyal and strong she is and just about how much she loves her husband and would do anything for him and their family.
The documentary definitely was an emotional one for me and now so is the book. Amazing. She was everybody’s FLOTUS. A woman with a heart of gold.

I listened to the audiobook, which Michelle narrates. I love Michelle, but this book was way too detailed and long for me. I felt like it was too much a recounting of every second of the presidency, down to what color hats her kids would wear on inauguration day. There was a lot that could have been cut without losing anything.
My favorite parts were about her life pre-Obama presidency, namely what her life was like growing up in Chicago. I liked getting to know what shaped her.

**LISTEN ON AUDIOBOOK- she reads it**
This should be required reading. Regardless of your political views, Michelle eloquently touches on nearly every normal, relatable human issues— from grief, marriage, IVF, and even fashion. Amazing. I’d give this six stars if I could.
